At the end of last year I was invited along to the book launch of ”Danger! Cosmetics to Go” by Mira Manga which was held in Lush Grafton Street as the book is the story of the company before Lush!

The author Mira Manga herself was there too, she greeted us all and told us a bit about herself and the book. Very friendly girl and a good laugh too.
If you’re someone like me who loves to know the story and background behind a business you will definitely enjoy this book. Even if you just love cosmetics and how they are made especially Lush products, then this makes for a very interesting read.
You will be amazed to read how some of the Lush products (still sold today too) were developed by Cosmetics to Go and learn the inspiration behind the ingredients and packaging!
I love Mira’s writing style it’s very easy to read it’s as if she is sitting in front of you telling you the story. In the book you learn the people behind Cosmetics to Go and how they started by experimenting and making products from their kitchen for The Body Shop interestingly enough! Also you get a sense of the personal, friendly and caring running of the business both in terms of looking after staff & customers as well as the environment. You can see where Lush gets their great business values and ethics from once you’ve finished the book.
The images are really striking too, it actually features lots of covers and pages from the original Cosmetics to Go mail order catalogues. The book explains the work and inspiration for the catalogues too. There is so many fun facts in this book it’s a really good book to have on the coffee table or on your bookshelf of interesting an unusual books!
